Season: July to September
Description: Corn is a grass domesticated by the indigenous people of Mesoamerica in the prehistoric times.
Corn has been grown in America since the Native Americans inhabited the country: it is credited with moving the Native Americans from a nomadic to agrarian society. The Native Americans taught the new settlers how to survive off of corn flour and cakes.
For the sweetest corn, cook it as quickly after harvesting as possible.
Did you know? Corn is the second most widely grown crop in the world, after rice.
