Season: July to March
Description: Hailing from the Yunnan province of China, garlic has been used throughout recorded history for both medical and culinary purposes. In fact, garlic is referenced in both the Bible and the Talmud. The most commonly eaten part of the plant is the bulb, but the stems and flowers are also edible. Garlic can be grown year round, even in frozen soil, which makes it easy to cultivate all over the world. Garlic's medical benefits include heart disease and cancer prevention.
