Season: July to September
Description: Cantaloupe and honeydew are the familiar varieties, but there are possibly hundreds of varieties grown around the world. Cantaloupes were grown by the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. They were introduced to the U.S. by Christopher Columbus in 1494. Honeydew melons are originally from France where they are called White Antibes.
