Season: Year round
Description: Although the parsley plant originated in Iran, it was not cultivated specifically for its root until it appeared in areas like Holland, Germany and Poland and then gained popularity in the rest of Europe by the late 18th century. Parsley root can be added to any root vegetable dish as it has the look of a turnip and the taste of a nutty, sweet carrot. The Bartowich long and Fakir cultivars have become popular in the United States, and can be used for their leaves as well as their roots.
