Season: May to September
Description: The word ‘radish’ is derived from ‘radix’, the Latin word for root. Radishes are both a root vegetable and a member of the mustard family. The red radish can grow up to 20 inches in length! While the entire plant is edible, most people eat the tap root, usually raw. Radishes are also commonly used as an alternative medicine to treat coughs and liver problems.
Make sure to buy radishes with green tops. Radishes can be stored between 7-10 days in your refrigerator.
Did you know? In Egypt, radish seed oil was used before the olive tree was introduced.
