Season: June to November
Description: Scallions are sometimes referred to as green onions. Both the long, hollow green stalks and the white base (an immature bulb) are edible. Scallions are both sweeter and milder than a mature onion. Scallions are often used as a substitute for chives.
Store scallions in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Did you know? Scallions are the only onions used in traditional Japanese cooking.
