Season: October to March
Description: Turnips are closely related to rutabagas and are widely used in both Scottish and French cooking. It is believed that turnips were first grown over 5,000 years ago and were enjoyed by the Greeks and Romans.
In the early 1700s, Lord Townshend introduced a variety of turnips to England. He was later referred to as "Turnip" Townshend.
The turnip root is a good source of Vitamin C. Turnips can be stored in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Did you know? The sweetest turnips are available in the Spring and Fall.
